


LTL Holdings (pvt) Ltd is also a significant player in Sri Lankan renewable energy development. It has invested in hydro, bio mass and wind projects. A brief description of the hydro power projects are as follows. “Nividhu” Belihul Oya Power Station
Belihul Oya is a small stream originates in central hills of Sri lanka. LTL, invested in this project in collaboration of a Norwegian investment fund and a local investment fund and set up this power plant in 2002. It has been one of the most profitable investments in the group. The dedicated subsidiary Nividhu (pvt) Ltd has signed a 15 year power purchase agreement with Ceylon Electricity Board. The power plant consists of two 1MW turbine and generator sets from Germany. It has been operated by Lakdhanavi Ltd for Nividhu. “Nividhu Asupiniella” Aranayake Power Station
LTL’s second hydro power plant was developed using the Assupiniella stream in Upper Central hills of Sri Lanka. It is a 4MW project consisting of two 2MW turbines. This project also was invested by LTL, the Norwegian and Sri Lankan investment funds which invested in Belihul Oya project. Like Belihul Oya, Assupiniella project also was very well managed by Lakdhanavi Ltd. It is also a very profitable investment in LTL Group. Since its full commissioning in March 2008, the power plant has recorded above expected profits. |
